Living on the shores of Lago di Ceresio—also known as Lake Lugano—offers a rare and poetic kind of beauty. The gentle rhythm of water lapping against stone, the crisp alpine air mingling with the soft mist rising from the lake, and the distant call of birds echoing through the hills create a setting that feels both serene and elemental. There is a quiet energy here, as if the calm surface of the lake conceals something wilder and more ancient beneath.
This residence, nestled directly on the shoreline and enveloped by lush, untamed nature, embodies that duality. Our studio was invited to completely reimagine the home for a modern family, creating a space that doesn’t merely exist within the landscape—but is inspired by it, shaped by it, and in constant dialogue with it. It’s a place where the setting becomes a muse. Mornings bring light spilling over Monte Brè, while moonlit reflections ripple across the walls at night, offering moments of reflection and inspiration.
The design draws from the easy elegance of la dolce vita, infused with the earthy sensuality of Southeast Asian aesthetics. Natural materials, organic textures, and an open, flowing layout allow the house to breathe with its surroundings. The atmosphere is at once refined and relaxed—luxurious without excess, grounded yet transporting.
This is more than a home. It’s a retreat, a rhythm, a quiet immersion into nature’s embrace—where architecture, landscape, and daily life exist in seamless harmony.
